Top Ten Tuesday | Book Titles That Would Make Awesome Band Names

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature that highlights ten books that all relate to a certain topic and is  hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This Weeks Topic Is...

Book Titles That Would Make Great Band Names. It was actually supposed to be song titles originally but I was scrolling through Goodreads and I kept noticing how so many titles would make great band names and so I decided to tweak the prompt a bit.

Cleo Porter and the Body Electric by Jake Burt

Maybe it's because I just watched Julie and the Phantoms on Netflix but this title immediately stood out to me as a potential band name. It sounds so fun and and I can already imagine the fun pop songs they'd release plus the costumes they'd wear on stage!

The Insomniacs by Marit Weisenberg

There's more than likely already a band with this name out in the world but I though it was too good not to include. I feel like this band would make really chilled out indie records that manages to form a small fan base but they still remain fairly unknown.

The Fell of Dark by Caleb Roehrig

This is definitely a full on rock band name with possibly some punk elements thrown in. They'd want to remain mostly out of the spotlight and would perform in smaller venues in order to get the atmosphere just right for the show.

The Boys in the Back Row by Mike Jung

I hate to say it but I just feel like this is a name a cheesy boyband would be given on some kind of talent show to make them feel more relatable to the audience! They might make it to the semi finals, be given a contract, release a one hit wonder and then fade into obscurity!

Utopia Avenue by David Mitchell

This is giving me indie rock vibes straight off, the name sounds something that wants to be taken seriously but still has that element of fun plus it rolls of the tongue really well. This is a name that would stick in people's heads and I can already see this band having a fairly successful career!

Surrender Your Sons by Adam Sass

Definitely a death metal band that I probably wouldn't listen to if you paid me. All that screaming would give me a headache but they'd probably find a solid audience in a particular area of music lovers!

The Good for Nothings by Danielle Banas

A fun indie pop band with a bit of an edge maybe? They might have a rebellious lead singer that ends up in all the tabloids but they still release really fun music and their concerts would be a blast.

Premeditated Myrtle by Elizabeth C. Bunce

I have no idea what type of music these guys would make, probably indie, but I just love how cool the name sounds. Again, it rolls really well off the tongue and is a name that would definitely invite curiosity.

Prelude for Lost Souls by Melene Dunbar

I have no idea why but for some reason I'm picturing a country/folk band for this one. Or maybe this band would go totally meta and turn out to be an opera or classical group!? Endless possibilities!

Miss Meteor by Tehlor Kay Meija & Anna-Marie McLemore

This could go either two ways; an indie pop group or the next big girl band. Either way, with a name like that I'd definitely listen to whatever they were releasing!

Do you agree with my choices? If you had to name a band after a book title, what would it be?  Leave a comment or link your own Top Ten Tuesday's for me to check out! Happy Reading!

  1. Great list and good twist on this week's topic :) It was also a previous TTT topic and I also chose The Good for Nothings as a great band name! I think Premeditated Myrtle would also be so good and I reckon they'd have really fun songs 😆

  2. Premeditated Myrtle would be a great band name! I hope TTT does the book titles as band names prompt again. That was a fun one. Did you participate in it?

  3. Great list. Cleo Porter and the Body Electric reminds me of David Bowie using Ziggy Stardust. The Fell of Dark sounds like it would be an awesome rock song.

  4. I don't know why, but I have a problem with music-related TTT prompts. My mind just blanks! You did a great job, though. Nice picks!

    Happy TTT!
