Down The TBR Hole #8

I currently have 3963 books on my to-read shelf.

The rules

  1. Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  2. Order on ascending date added.
  3. Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  4. Read the synopses of the books
  5. Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

I know that this is a modern children's classic and I'm still really interested in reading it. It sounds incredibly fun and fantastical which is my favourite kind of middle grade.

Verdict: Keep

The Case of the Missing Marquess (Enola Holmes #1) by Nancy Springer

I watched the recent Netflix adaptation that was based on this book and I really liked it so I definitely still want to give the books a try too.

Verdict: Keep

Roundabout by Rhiannon Lassiter

I own this book so it makes sense to keep it on my TBR. I have owned it for years though and I'm still not getting the urge to pick it up. I'm sure I will one day though.

Verdict: Keep

Massive by Julia Bell

I've struggled with an eating disorder since I was a teenager and right now I'm not interested in reading anything that could be potentially triggering.

Verdict: Remove

This is a really dark subject, human trafficking, and whilst I'm not put off by taboo subjects, this book also had quite mixed reviews. I'm going to remove it for now but one day I might pick it up.

Verdict: Remove

Glimmerglass (Faeriewalker #1) by Jenna Black

I feel like a broken record but again, no longer particularly interested in books about fairies and fae.

Verdict: Remove

Gone, Gone, Gone by Hannah Moscowitz

I think we're about to head into my hard-hitting contemporary phase that lasted a good few years! Reviews are a bit mixed but I haven't tried any of Moscowitz's writing before. I might give some of her other books a go and come back to this one.

Verdict: Remove

You Killed Wesley Payne by Sean Beaudoin

I thought I was most likely going to remove this one but that synopsis is so intriguing and I love the sound of a pulp-noir esque book.

Verdict: Keep

Going Nowhere Faster by Sean Beaudoin

Another book by the same author. This one doesn't interest me as much so I'd rather remove it and read his other book to get a feel of his writing.

Verdict: Remove

Matched by Ally Condie

I own all three books in this series so obviously going to be keeping them on there until I eventually get round to reading them! It does have quite mixed reviews though so I don't know if it'll be any time soon.

Verdict: Keep

This Week:

Kept: 5
Removed: 5

Overall:

Kept: 35
Removed: 45

Pretty standard week. I'm definitely noticing how different my reading tastes were back in 2011 and that for some reason I added any books that sounded mildly interesting to me. I've definitely gotten a lot better at knowing what should be added and what shouldn't now!
