Down The TBR Hole #12

Current TBR shelf: 3960

Last week's TBR shelf: 3950

The rules

  1. Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  2. Order on ascending date added.
  3. Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  4. Read the synopses of the books
  5. Decide: keep it or should it go?

Freak Show by James St. James

This does sound decent but it was published 13 years ago and I just feel like there are more recent books about LBTQ+ characters that I'm more interested in. I'm also a bit wary about the fact that the author is a 'media personality' as well. I'd definitely still pick this up if I spotted it in my library or secondhand book shop but for now I'm going to take it off my TBR.

Verdict: Remove

Return to Sender by Julia Alvarez

This sounds like a sweet middle grade but just not a book I'm interested in anymore unfotunately.

Verdict: Remove

Dramarama by E. Lockheart

I do like E. Lockheart and I really like the idea of reading about a summer theatre camp so this one can stay.

Verdict: Keep

Plus by Veronica Chambers

It's got some mixed reviews but I'm down for some self-love and representation in pluz-size characters.

Verdict: Keep

This Is What I Did by Ann Dee Ellis

Again, this is a book that has nothing overtly wrong with it but just don't have much interest in at this point in my life.

Verdict: Remove

The Killer's Cousin by Nancy Werlin

This is described as a YA thriller but it does sound pretty basic in terms of plot and the reviews aren't amazing either.

Verdict: Remove

Locked Inside by Nancy Werlin

This is another YA thriller from the same author and again, doesn't really grab my attention much so it's one i'll pass on.

Verdict: Remove

Just One Wish by Janette Rallison

I was actually prepared to remove this one but it does actually sound very cute and the ratings are pretty good on Goodreads. I think i've just become actively interested in reading this one!

Verdict: Keep

Boys, Girls & Other Hazardous Materials by Rosalind Wiseman

I don't see myself picking this up anymore, the plot is very generic and I can already see the ending from a mile off.

Verdict: Remove

Jumping Off Swings by Jo Knowles

I'm sure someone else would really like this book but teen pregnancy has never been a topic I've particularly enjoyed reading about in the past.

Verdict: Remove

This Week:
