Owlcrate October 2020 Unboxing | Legends & Lore

I decided to carry on my Owlcrate subscription maybe until the end of 2020 because whenever they announce the next month I keep getting sucked back in again! I'm really enjoying getting these boxes though, it's a nice little treat each month. I've been really impressed with the book selections and the products they include are really well sourced, great quality and support small businesses. Without further ado, let's get into what was included in October's box.

October's theme was Legends & Lore and to be honest I thought I wasn't going to get this box because I thought it would be straight fantasy which most of the time I'm not keen on but I figured out what the book was this month and I knew I had to get it. Also, I've been putting up these little artwork cards up on my wall because they're just too beautiful to throw away!

The first thing I pulled out of the box was this little bowl cozy. This was teased over on instagram as being a fabric product that would be useful all year round but I didn't expect this as I actually haven't ever heard of a bowl cozy before! I don't know how much use I'll be getting out of it but I adore the design and it feels very high quality. This bowl cozy was designed by Janine Lacour and you can find a link to her shop here

Next we have another product that was teased on instagram, this time it's a handmade soap created by Motherland Essentials and is in celebration of the Solstasia Festival. It's also inspired by A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown. It smells very fresh and I like the colours used plus it's plant based! I'm sure I'll use this once I get through my growing basket of bath products!

When I picked up this box (which I love by the way, partly because it matches my bedding!) I could hear metal clanking and I had no idea what was inside! But, it's a gorgeous wind chime and probably my favourite item in this month's box. It's inspired by Woven in Moonlight by Isabel IbaƱez and was made by Team Owlcrate! I don't have any hooks near my windows at the minute but I'll definitely be hanging it up there soon.

Next, we have this glass nail file in it's own little case plus the gorgeous box. Owlcrate always have such lovely packaging. This was inspired by Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan and included the quote "Fire In, Fear Out" on the hilt which I love. Again, it's really good quality and the design is super pretty. I'm not a fan of filing my nails cause I don't like the sensation of it but I might give this to my sister as I'm sure she'd appreciate it more.

Our last full product included this month is a bamboo wooden phone/tablet stand designed by Lady Chubb Letters. This was inspired by The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi and has the quote "Show Me A Dream Unrealized" printed on it. I don't own a phone stand so I'm excited to now own one and I'm going to start using it tonight to charge my phone. I'll admit it took me a while to figure out how the pieces slotted together though!

This month an exclusive sneak peek of We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal was also included. I haven't read We Hunt the Flame yet but it is a book that's on my TBR and this did remind me that I do want to read it soon.

We also have the monthly enamel pin included too. This is directly inspired by the book and the coin that's used within the secret society. It was designed and created by Hey Atlas Creative and is super gorgeous. I love the colours and the quote on it, "When The Shadows Rise, So Will The Light". This has made me even more excited to read the book now!

And finally we have this month's book, Legendborn by Tracy Deonn! I'm so excited for this book as it's inspired by Arthurian legend and has a secret society at it's center, both things that I love! The cover change is subtle but really beautiful and I love the gold of the title against the blue and red hues. It also looks really pretty naked with this lovely embossed design on the front.

We also have the beautiful reversible dust jacket with the most stunning artwork designed by Chibia Ulinwa! I love this design, it's so magical and that quote is making me think we have a really strong main character to look forward to reading about.

Lastly, we have the little preview card for November's theme which is GROWING WILD. I'm definitely getting this box as again, I couldn't wait and I worked out what the book was and I'll just say it's one of my most anticipated of the year. We also get a reading planner next month as well which pretty much swayed me in the end.

I am really enjoying getting these boxes. The products are always useful and beautifully designed. I'm really happy with everything included and now I just have to wait impatiently for next month's to arrive! Happy Reading!
