Aaand I'm back to work after my annual leave! I only had to work the Friday so it wasn't too bad but obviously from Monday it's back full time. Womp womp.
In terms of work I had a pretty eventful day Friday with a colleague getting on my nerves (she's back from maternity leave and let's just say the year without her was very nice!) plus I had a kid fall over and therefore blood everywhere cause he cut his lip. Literally all over my hands and coat 😬
My brother got back from his trip to the US on Thursday and whilst it's nice to have him back, I am also missing have the entire house to myself! But we caught up with family on Friday evening and then yesterday we went for breakfast and then to the cinema which was nice. I've also eaten far too much Chinese food this weekend but hey, I thought I deserved a treat after Friday's antics!
★ I finished Wordslut by Amanda Montell last night before I went to bed. This was a really interesting non-fiction and a topic that I know little to nothing about. Montell examines how language is used in contrast with gender, particularly how women's choice of words are viewed. I thought the author did a great job of making this fairly academic subject very readable. The chapters were interesting and it made me view how I use language myself.
★ I started We Solve Murders by Richard Osman this morning and whilst I'm already over 30% in, I have to say it's not nearly as good as the Thursday Murder Club series. It just doesn't have the same charm, maybe that's down to the characters. I do love Osman's writing though so it's still a fun time.
★ I've watched the first two episodes of Prime Target on Apple TV+ but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I don't feel like the plot's fully got going yet but it also hasn't gripped me like the first few episodes of a series should. I'll probably continue but it's not one that I feel everyone should run to binge.
★ I went to see Nosferatu on Saturday and I think everyone hyped this up too much. I was so bored throughout this film and kept checking the time to see when it was over. Lord Orlock was so dramatic and just not a film for me. Also, it was super gross at times too!
★ The Night Agent is back! I waited until the weekend to start it properly and I'm now onto the 5th episode. I loved the first series so my expectations were high. I'm liking it but I don't feel like the storyline is as strong as in series 1 but it's still good, action-packed fun.
I've been on a 2000's kick for the last week, reliving all my favourite songs from that decade in particular, lots of Avril Lavigne and S Club!
I'm currently obsessed with this library lady on TikTok! Her book return game is just so much fun to watch and guessing whether a book's going to be late or on time, I'm so glad the ban got pushed back cause I would've missed this account.
