WWW Wednesday | 14/04/2021

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words that highlights three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you'll read next?

What did you recently finish reading?

I finished Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo at the weekend and I really enjoyed it. It really does throw you straight into the action and then it's just non stop after that but that's probably why I enjoyed it so much. The characters were all great (LOVE Nina and Inej) and I'm excited to get Wylan's POV in Crooked Kingdom. Can see why so many people prefer this to the Shadow and Bone trilogy.

Still going with Jog On: How Running Saved My Life by Bella Mackie. I'm just reading bits here and there particularly on days when I have to go for a run. It's been interesting so far to hear about her journey and it has a heavy focus on mental health which is very beneficial to me. So far so good.

The Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec is a new Netgalley ARC I received last month and I'm trying to get it read before it's publication date in early May. Haven't got much to say at the moment as I'm only about 30 pages in but I'm excited to see how the story progresses and the romance between our main character and Loki is bound to be interesting.

I started listening to A History of the World in 21 Women by Jenni Murray on audio yesterday as I realised I haven't listened to an audiobook in forever. This is a library borrow that sounded really interesting. I've only listened to the first chapter which is Hatshepsut but I really like that the author is narrating it and it's been fascinating so far. I'm a bit of a history buff so...

Finally, I started Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo last night although I didn't get very far, only about 30 pages before I got distracted by cake! No idea what's going to happen in this book but I'm looking forward to reading more. And as much I'm enjoying it, I am also looking forward to physically reading something that's not set in the Grishaverse!

What do you think you'll read next?

Next up is The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett which I'm reading for the A Touch of Whimsy book club which focuses on middle grades. I haven't read this since I was a child so excited to dive in especially as I have the stunning MinaLima edition with the gorgeous interactive elements.

When orphaned Mary Lennox comes to live at her uncle's great house on the Yorkshire Moors, she finds it full of secrets. The mansion has nearly one hundred rooms, and her uncle keeps himself locked up. And at night, she hears the sound of crying down one of the long corridors.

The gardens surrounding the large property are Mary's only escape. Then, Mary discovers a secret garden, surrounded by walls and locked with a missing key. One day, with the help of two unexpected companions, she discovers a way in. Is everything in the garden dead, or can Mary bring it back to life?

Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts? What are you currently reading and hoping to pick up next? Leave a comment or link your own WWW Wednesdays below for me to check out!
