WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words that highlights three questions:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you'll read next?
What did you recently finish reading?
The most recent book I finished was The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahearn but man, have I been in a slump lately. This was the only full book that I read in February and it took me two weeks to finish it. This was kind of disappointing in the sense that I really liked the premise but overall the execution was a bit lacklustre. I wanted more magic and wonder but it was lacking in those areas unfortunately.
What are you currently reading?
I've been reading Felicity Carrol and the Murderous Menace by Patrica Marcantonio since January but this reading slump is just not making me want to pick it up. If i've been struggling with picking up a physical book then it's even worse when it comes to my ebooks. It's frustrating because this is an old netgalley arc that I am enjoying but just not reaching for. So far it's been a fun little Victorian murder mystery that takes inspiration from the Jack the Ripper case, just need to push myself to get it read.
The Man in the High Castle by Philip. K. Dick is a sci-fi classic that I picked up recently. I'm not too far in because I'm still in the end stages of my slump but I think i'm enjoying it? It's kinda slow and i'm not too sure what direction it's going in but it's such an interesting look into an alternate world that could've been.
Lastly, I'm participating in a little GrishaVerse readalong that's happening over on Instagram. Starting off with Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, we'll be reading all five books in the series in anticipation for the release of the Netflix series at the end of April. dustandpages has broken down each book into ten day reading schedules and how many pages you need to read each day to stay on track. The first book will be a reread for me but I'm excited to go into the rest of the books for the first time.
What do you think you'll read next?
I don't really have a set TBR for March as I'm going to just mood read to see if that improves my slump but Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid is definitely one that I'll be reaching for. I've been so excited to pick something up by this author and I know everyone loves Evelyn Hugo but I'm just slightly more intrigued by the whole 70's rock band in LA premise that this one has.
Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts? What are you currently reading and hoping to pick up next? Leave a
