Top Ten Tuesday | Books On My Summer TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature that highlights ten books that all relate to a certain topic and is  hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This Weeks Topic Is... 

Books On My Summer TBR. When I think of what I want to read during summer it's always generally lighter content and more geared towards romance and contemporary (although, yes I do read those all year round as well!) as they just represent summer for me. I love reading about summer vacations, road trips and summer romances whilst it's hot outside and I don't have to worry about school until September. These are the ten books I want to read this summer, the majority are contemporaries but there are some others in there to mix it up a bit...

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

Of course the first book on this list takes place in summer! I actually picked up my copy of this last week in a charity shop and I got very excited as I've only read a handful of Sarah Dessen books and I really want to read more. I like the sound of this one as the MC gets a summer job at a catering company and becomes friends with her chaotic coworkers plus there's a little romance in there as well!

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

I know I talk about this book a lot, I think it's been in like two or three of my last couple of TTT's, but I just love it so much. I've decided i'm going to re-read it this summer as it just encompasses everything I want in a fun, light contemporary. If you don't know anything about this book, it's about two people who take a cross country roadtrip during summer and they visit all these roadside attractions and the book has playlists that they've created and it's a got such a great romance.

Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven

I absolutely loved All The Bright Places by this author and so I really want to read more by her and see if I enjoy more of her work. This one sounds very intriguing as we've got a MC who's being shamed for her weight and a love interest who can't recognise faces. I think Niven does a great job of balancing romance with deeper issues such as mental health so I'm excited to get to this one.    

Save The Date by Morgan Matson

And we have another Morgan Matson book! Like i've said before, I think she's the current queen of contemporary romances and therefore they are perfect for summer. And it doesn't get much more summery then a wedding especially one filled with disasters! This book sounds so fun and chaotic and really sweet and I can't wait to read it. 

On The Road by Jack Karouac

I wanted to include a classic on this list and I've wanted to read On The Road for a while as it's such a well known and well loved classic. I don't know too much about this book but I know it takes place in the 50's and the characters travel around the country experiencing life. I definitely want to read this to understand the massive cultural impact it's had.

A Good Girl's Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson

We've got a bit of murder mystery in here to shake things up. This has been such a hyped book over the last few months over on twitter and booktube so I'm jumping on the bandwagon and prioritising this one to read over the summer. I'm excited to see if this lives up to the hype as YA thrillers can often be quite hit and miss with me.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

Another one I want to read due to how much hype it got although the hype is mainly around the tv show now. I really want to watch the tv adapatation, mostly because I love Reese Witherspoon, but I do want to read the source material first so I'm hoping that I can read this and then binge watch seasons 1 and 2 of the show straight after.

Feminists Don't Wear Pink and Other Lies by Scarlett Curtis

This is a non-fiction read which I actually got for my birthday last year and still haven't picked up. I proudly identify as a feminist so I'm intrigued to read all these different women's take on the movement in this collection of essays.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

This one was released back in 2012 and I can remember it getting so much hype that I went out and bought it and then it's been sitting on my bookshelves ever since and I think it's about damn time I got round to reading it. So i'm gonna try and prioritise this one as well.

Meet Cute by Jennifer L. Armerntrout et al

To finish off we have a short story collection which revolves around two people meeting in the cutest ways possible and I just think this will be perfect for summer. It sounds so adorable and there are some inclusions by some of my favourite authors as well as authors that i've yet to try. This'll be one that I read whilst sitting out in the sun and drinking an ice cold drink this summer!
