Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature that highlights ten books that all relate to a certain topic and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This Weeks Topic Is...
A non-bookish freebie so I chose to highlight some of my favourite comfort films which is basically made up of a load of rom-coms. Some honourable mentions that just didn't quite make it on the list are Bend it Like Beckham, She's the Man, Hocus Pocus, Hairspray & A Cinderella Story.
Ever After (1996)
AKA the best Cinderella remake and I stand strong on that. Exquisite fairy tale vibes - we'll just ignore Drew Barrymore's questionable accent at times.
Notting Hill (1999)
Peak rom-com and peak Hugh Grant. I love the dinner party scene and then when Ronan Keating starts playing in the background, it's just so good!
Before Sunrise (1995)
This film has some of the best chemistry plus who doesn't want to fall in love with a stranger whilst walking around a European city all night?
Coraline (2009)
I think Coraline might be my favourite animated film of all time, the stop-motion animation is wonderful and the amount of detail that must have went into this film is incredible.
Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (2008)
This film was my whole personality during my teens and it's required sleepover viewing for ever British teenage girl. It's so cringe but so brilliant at the same time and Ultraviolet is still on repeat to this day!
Coyote Ugly (2000)
I was definitely too young for this when I first watched it but I was obsessed from the start and still am. I adore everything about this film and was convinced I was going to move to NYC and have this life when I was younger. Bridget Moynahan in this film is my idol!
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)
I think this might've been the first musical I ever saw and it kicked off a lifelong love for them. This, Oliver and Annie (the 80's version) were my whole childhood and I drove my mum mad singing those songs round the house.
Amelie (2001)
My first foray into foreign cinema and it's iconic for a reason. The whimsical, romantic vibe of this film is everything and it's just such an enchanting watch.
Pride (2014)
The most underrated film in my opinion and the one I recommend most to people. It's absolutely pure joy and is based on an incredible true story. Please go and watch it!
A Knight's Tale (2001)
Another childhood fave, Heath Ledger in his prime and an excellent soundtrack!
Amelie was great.
ReplyDeleteChitty Chitty Bang Bang is a great old film! And now I have the theme song running through my head...
