Anatomy: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz

Release Date: January 18th 2022

Edinburgh, 1817.

Hazel Sinnett is a lady who wants to be a surgeon more than she wants to marry.

Jack Currer is a resurrection man who’s just trying to survive in a city where it’s too easy to die.

When the two of them have a chance encounter outside the Edinburgh Anatomist’s Society, Hazel thinks nothing of it at first. But after she gets kicked out of renowned surgeon Dr. Beecham’s lectures for being the wrong gender, she realizes that her new acquaintance might be more helpful than she first thought. Because Hazel has made a deal with Dr. Beecham: if she can pass the medical examination on her own, the university will allow her to enroll. Without official lessons, though, Hazel will need more than just her books – she’ll need bodies to study, corpses to dissect.

Lucky that she’s made the acquaintance of someone who digs them up for a living, then.

But Jack has his own problems: strange men have been seen skulking around cemeteries, his friends are disappearing off the streets. Hazel and Jack work together to uncover the secrets buried not just in unmarked graves, but in the very heart of Edinburgh society.

Gothic love story about a female surgeon and a resurrection man set in the 1800's? Sign me up.

I'm excited to read more horror in 2022 and this one sounds so atmospheric and creepy plus it's witchy which is my favourite kind of book.

How incredible does this sound?? I've actually already pre-ordered this one and March can't come soon enough. I've only read Addie Larue bu Schwab but's one of my all time favourites and when I heard she was coming out with a haunted house story, I was practically hyperventilating!

Killing Time by Brenna Ehrlich

Release Date: March 8th 2022

A deathly warning to a generation of murderinos: What happens when the stories we’re chasing finally catch up with us?

Summer in Ferry, Connecticut, has always meant long, lazy days at the beach and wild nights partying in the abandoned mansions on the edge of town. Until now, that is.

Natalie Temple, who’s never been one for beaches or parties in the first place, is reeling from the murder of her favorite teacher, and there’s no way this true-crime-obsessed girl is going to sit back and let the rumor mill churn out lie after lie—even if she has to hide her investigation from her disapproving mom and team up with the new boy in town…

But the more Natalie uncovers, the more she realizes some secrets were never meant to be told.

I love a good mystery/thriller and I'm looking forward to reading about a true crime obsessed girl solving the murder of her teacher.

I enjoyed the first book, Pride and Premeditation, I thought it was a really fun take on the classic story so I'm interested to see what the author does with Jane Austen's other books.

Whilst I'm not reading as much contemporary as I used to, I can't resist a time loop novel where two people have to figure out how to escape it!
