Midnight in Everwood by M.A. Kuzniar
I wished for this on Netgalley a few months ago and was lucky enough to be granted a copy. I've been waiting for the release date to be a little closer (October 28th if you're wondering!) to get stuck in so it's next on my list after my current eBook. As soon as I saw that cover I knew I wanted to know more and then I read the synopsis and I just fell completely in love! A retelling of The Nutcracker (A story I've loved since watching the Barbie version as a child 😂) with enchanted toys (!!), balls, a forbidden romance, ice creatures, ballet and female alliances! I literally cannot wait to start reading!
The Night Will Find Us by Matthew Lyons
This YA slasher/horror is one that I'm reading for Spooktober as it's a group book for my team. I literally picked me team based on how easily I could find the group books and Team Zombie's was the only team with both books on Scribd! I don't know if I'd have picked it up if it wasn't for a readathon but I'm always up for a good creepy thriller.
A Tangle of Spells (A Pinch of Magic #2) by Michelle Harrison
I read the first book for the Hocus Pocus Readathon last year and now I'm finally continuing the series for the same prompt for the same readathon 👍. I adored the first book, I just haven't found the time to carry on to the sequel. I'm very excited to get back to Crowstone and the Widdershin sisters though and to see what this next adventure has in store.
I keep postponing my hold on this book on Libby cause I just haven't found the time to slot it into my reading schedule but I do really want to get to it. I wasn't that interested in Red, White & Royal Blue but I really like the sound of the time travel element and the fact that the protagonist is so close to my age as it's rare to find a MC aged 22-27 in fiction, especially the fiction that I like to pick up.
The Haunting Season: Nine Ghostly Tales for Long Winter Nights by Bridget Collins et al
I just pre-ordered this anthology, the pretty Waterstones edition, because 1. I want to start reading more anthologies and 2. this one sounds atmospheric and spooky and just perfect for curling up with as the nights get colder. All of the authors in this collection I've read from, own books from or simply really want to try so it should be a good selection.
The Secret Key (Agatha Oddly #1) by Lena Jones
Middle Grade mysteries are some of my favourites, I just love the fun, detective vibes. I really like amateur sleuths and this one could be the start of a great new series plus there's a private school, loads of books and a secret key that accesses a hidden London. Eager to start this one soon (and I need to cause it's a library book)!
Muse of Nightmares (Strange the Dreamer #2) by Laini Taylor
It took me about two months to read the first book in what was maybe the weirdest reading slump I've ever had. I was reading eBooks and audiobooks but just not picking up my physical read. Once I did manage to get it finished I was so swept up in the characters and the romance, such a magical read. I'm hoping I'm able to finish the sequel a bit quicker though.
I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara
I'm trying to get more into non-fiction as I've hardly read any this year when one of my goals was to read one a month (ha!) and seeing as the spooky season is upon us, some true crime will perfectly fit my mood. This is such a hyped and popular book, so many people have read it and enjoyed it. It's heartbreaking that the author died before this book was published or before the killer was exposed but hopefully her legacy will continue.
The Vanishing Stair (Truly Devious #2) by Maureen Johnson
I'm doing a re-read of Truly Devious in October in preparation for continuing the series as I still can't believe I haven't done it yet. I really, really enjoyed Truly Devious when I read it two years ago so I can't wait familiarise myself with the characters and plot before I resume with the mystery as if I remember correctly the first book left me with a lot of questions and not many answers!
Amari and the Night Brothers (Supernatural Investigations #1) by B.B. Alston
Believathon is happening in November (a middle grade readathon that you should definitely check out) and I have a few middle grades that I'd like to include if I end up taking part. I recently bought this one on a whim cause I'd heard a few of my favourite booktubers really liking it and it just sounds like a really fun fantasy read, I already have a good feeling that I'm going to love it!

I read I'll Be Gone in the Dark last November -- this is the right time of year for it. It's also one of the few books that I think lived up to the hype. I spend a lot of time on the UnresolvedMysteries sub at Reddit, but I don't usually have the patience for longer-form true crime, and this had me riveted.
