Down The TBR Hole #2

Back for round two! Fingers crossed I can cross a few more book off my TBR this week...

The rules

  1. Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  2. Order on ascending date added.
  3. Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  4. Read the synopses of the books
  5. Decide: keep it or should it go?

This is supposedly quite dark and gothic but for some reasons it just doesn't interest me that much. Also the first book in the readers also enjoyed section on Goodreads is a book I DNF'd a couple of months ago...

Verdict: Remove

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

My initial thoughts were to remove this one but I had a closer read of the synopsis and I'm actually still quite interested in reading it. From the cover I thought it was going to be another paranormal romance but zombies? Intrigued.

Verdict: Keep

The House at Riverton by Kate Morton

Another one I thought I would be removing at first glance, I thought this was some kind of historical romance and it is in a way but it also apparently involves gothic and mystery elements too so I think this one can stay for now.

Verdict: Keep

The Geek Girls Guide to Cheerleading by Charity Tahmaseb & Darcy Vance

Yeah, I'm not interested in this one anymore. It seems light and fluffy but probably doesn't meet my tastes now.

Verdict: Remove

Alternate Ending by Aaron Niz

I don't even remember adding this book to my TBR. It sounds ok but considering it was published ten years ago and only has 19 ratings on Goodreads this is probably a book that's going to be hard to come by.

Verdict: Remove

Full Tilt by Neal Shusterman

I was a fan of Shusterman's Unwind series and I love books set in carnivals or fairgrounds so I do actually want to read this at some point.

Verdict: Keep

How Not To Be Popular by Jennifer Ziegler

Another one that sounds cute and fluffy but there's just too many other contemporaries out there that I'm more interested in right now.

Verdict: Remove

Forget-Her-Nots by Amy Brecount White

The problem with paranormal fantasy is that it's not a sub genre of books that I've ever been particularly drawn to and yet I have loads on my Goodreads TBR. At the minute there's only a select few that I would genuinely pick up and unfortunately this isn't one of them.

Verdict: Remove

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

I'm going to tentatively keep this one on there only because it was such a massively popular series and the main character is a witch. If in a year or two I still haven't read it, it'll probably be removed then!

Verdict: Keep

My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent

And another paranormal fantasy series. This synopsis doesn't do anything for me either so this one can definitely be removed.

Verdict: Remove

This Week:

Kept: 4
Removed: 6

Overall:

Kept: 10
Removed: 10

Not a bad week! I think I definitely know my reading tastes a bit better now and can safely say which types of books I'm not interested in. Is there any books I removed that you think I should give a second chance? See you next week!
