Having two weeks of annual leave at the end of the month definitely helped with consuming media s I ended up watching a bunch of stuff in February!
27 Dresses (2008)
I started off the month with a rewatch of one of my favourite rom-coms! I adore this film and I think it's criminally underrated. Katherine Heigl is such a perfect rom-com lead and the chemistry between her and James Marsden is excellent. Such a fun film, perfect for a cosy movie night.
Hamnet (2025)
My first cinema visit of the month and one of the most hyped films of the last few months. I'm kinda sad that I didn't get round to reading the book before seeing it but I really, really liked this one. It's very slow paced but the acting is extraordinary, Jessie Buckley's performance is one I'm still thinking about over a month later. Probably not a film for everyone but it was an emotional take on motherhood and grief.
Saludos Amigos (1942)
I continued on with my Disney animation release order challenge and next up was one I've never actually seen before. This was the first of three early disney films that are made up of a number of shorts stitched together and very music heavy. These never really appealed to me which is why I've never seen it before and honestly it was just kind of boring and has a lot of propaganda allegations.
GOAT (2026)
Me and my brother were really excited for this film, the trailer looked really fun but this was seriously disappointing. The script was awful, the humour just didn't land and I think the overall plot has just been done so much in kids films. The animation style is really lovely though and the cast was good.
Wuthering Heights (2026)
I went to see this with my sister as it was not my brother's thing at all! I had no idea what to expect with this film. I've read the book and strongly disliked it so even though the film definitely changes a lot (some of it not for the better) I didn't actually mind that much. It's just a very bizarre take on the story, they got great actors but they just didn't really feel like the characters. I liked the overall vibes but a lot of the stylistic choices were odd. You probably won't enjoy this if you're a die hard fan of the book.
All the Empty Rooms (2025)
I then decided to watch one of the short films nominated for an Oscar this year on Netflix and boy, this was devastating. A journalist sets out to photograph the rooms of children killed in school shootings to shed light on the impact that gun violence has on families. This was so heartbreaking to watch, I cried at each segment and for the loss of these children. It's horrendous that even now after how much tragedy has occurred over the last twenty years, that the US government still aren't doing anything to combat guns and gun violence.
K-Pop Demon Hunters (2025)
I caved and finally watch K-Pop Demon Hunters! I pretty much know all of the songs already thanks to my niece and the many children I work with but overall it was a fun watch and yes, the songs are very catchy!
Send Help (2026)
Another cinema trip and one that I was a bit hesitant about cause I don't handle gore very well and I knew this would have probably have some scenes like that in it. And whilst there were a couple of scenes where I had to cover my eyes, overall I enjoyed it. Rachel McAdams was fantastic and I'm glad I saw it. I was thinking afterwards though that this was essentially that Amanda Bynes film Love Wrecked but the completely unhinged version!
The Three Caballeros (1944)
I finished off the month with the next film on the Disney challenge and this was kind of the same as the previous one. It was fine and the animation is great but I found my attention wavering after about 20 minutes. One I struggled to get through but we're nearly at the start of the Disney films that I remember growing up with.
How to Get to Heaven From Belfast (Netflix)
After loving Derry Girls, I was so excited for this new series from the same creator and it was just as brilliant. Set in Ireland, 3 friends reunite after the death of their school friend but end up on a wild quest for answers after a 20 year secret comes to light. This was hilarious, still got the biting Irish humor that I loved in Derry Girls but it's possibly even more chaotic! Definitely recommend this if you want something funny with an engaging plot and characters. Plus, a brilliant 2000's soundtrack!
The Night Agent (Netflix)
I of course had to binge the third season of The Night Agent as soon as it was released! I love this show, it's so well written and has some great plot twists. I'm not usually one for political/conspiracy thriller shows but this one's had me hooked from the first season. I am quite sad that there's no Rose though in this one, her and Peter's chemistry is one of the selling points of the series in my opinion but hopefully she'll return in the future.
Under Salt Marsh (Sky)
This mystery/crime show has been a weekly release in the UK and just finished a few weeks ago. Set in Wales, a coastal village is upended when the body of a young boy is found in the marsh and whilst the investigation gets under way, a storm threatens to cut them off from the mainland. I really enjoyed this one, the plot was really interesting and I liked the way it unfolded over the episodes. It had a great cast but my only downside is that most of the cast isn't Welsh and there are some shocking accents in here. Why they couldn't have just hired Welsh actors is beyond me!
What did you watch in February? Have you seen any of these or are any on your watchlist? Leave a comment below! Thanks for reading 😊
