I had a pretty good week, a slow but easy one at week as we start easing our way into a new term.
And last night me and my sister made the trip to Manchester to go and see Moulin Rouge: The Musical at the Palace Theatre and it was actually really fun. I actually haven't seen the film (yet!) but it's my sister's favourite so when tickets went on sale a year a go we had to get some. It was a little different then I expected, a lot more comedic and silly. My sister said it still followed the basic plot of the film but there were a lot more modern songs then I thought there would be (Shut Up and Dance, Royals, Raise Your Glass etc) which I found a bit odd at times but overall it was fun. The costumes and set design were amazing, they had the elephant and windmill on the sides of the stage which were so cool.
We went out for food beforehand too and let me just say, finding somewhere to eat in Manchester that's cheap but good was so much harder then I thought it would be especially compared to Liverpool which is where we usually go for theatre trips. We eventually settled on The Mitre which was a little bar/pub and whilst the food was good (I got a club sandwich, my favourite!), there was also a DJ playing very loud music and this was at like 5.30 which kind of ruined the mood a bit cause it was such a small pub.
★ I finished The Road to Tender Hearts by Annie Hartnett this morning and whilst it took me a while to get through I did actually really enjoy it. It's very quirky but hilarious and I loved the little family that was formed.
★ I'm just about to start Feel the Bern by Andrew Shaffer. I've had this on my kindle for ages and it's my last library book I need to get to before I can take it off airplane mode 😂 This looks very autumnal and I'm definitely in the mood for a cozy mystery.
★ We've done two cinema trips this week. First up was Jaws for it's 50th anniversary rerelease and this was my first time watching it so it was pretty cool to see it on the big screen. I really liked this, obviously most people do cause it 's a classic for a reason but I thought it was such a well made film and the effects were amazing for the 70s. 4/5
★ Next we saw The Roses which was just so much fun and hilariously chaotic. Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch have fantastic chemistry. Probably one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time! 4/5
★ Bake Off is back. I'm so happy cause it just fully kickstarts autumn for me. This was such a fun episode and I already love all the bakers already!
★ Lastly I started watching The Runarounds on Prime and this is actually a pretty good teen show. Better then I thought it would be. I thought it would be quite cringe but the acting so far has been solid and I'm liking the direction it's going in. I will say that they missed a trick releasing this in July/August cause this just scream summer show to me.
Had to include a playlist this week as I've just been listening to a bunch of songs on repeat. I finally listened to some of the Jonas Brothers new album and now these two songs are just on circulation as well as Perrie's new promotional single which is such a good pop song, I've been dancing to to it all weekend!
That the autumn weather is fully kicking in! As I'm writing this the rain is pouring down and it's making me want to get all cosy with a book!
