This Weeks Topic Is...
So, this weeks topic is actually to list the books you wanted to read in 2023 but instead I thought I'd do my most anticipated releases seeing as I missed it the other week. I could have added so many more books to this list, there's so many that I'm excited about being released in the upcoming months. These ten have me very excited though and I can't wait to get my hands on them!
The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden
Released → 13th February
Whilst I haven't gotten any further with The Winternight Trilogy, the first book was outstanding so when I first read the synopsis for Arden's latest novel, it automatically went to the top of my TBR list. I've definitely started off the year in a historical fiction mood and Arden delivers beautiful writing so I have high hopes for this one.
Gogmagog: The First Chronicle of Ludwich by Jeff Noon & Steve Beard
Released → 13th February
I'm highly intrigued by this fantasy novel, it's described as weird, bizarre, a fever dream so on to the TBR it went. I love weird books although haven't ventured much into weird fantasy yet.
The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown
Released → 13th February
A magical book that can lead anywhere?? Say no more.
We Are Together Because by Kerry Andrew
Released → 7th March
I'm intrigued by everyone describing this novel as a book of two halves; the first with the siblings getting to know each other and the second being a sort of dystopian/end of the world situation.
Black Hole Cinema Club by Christopher Edge
Released → 14th March
I love fun, adventure middle grade stories, Their the perfect buffer in between some of the darker stories I read and this one sounds like such a good time!
Floating Hotel by Grace Curtis
Released → 19th March
I love a cozy fantasy so why not try a cozy sci-fi. I can't completely explain why but it's giving me House in the Cerulean Sea vibes but spacey...
The Fellowship of Puzzlemakers by Samuel Burr
Released → 9th April
As a big fan of crosswords and puzzles alike, I'm super excited for a mystery surrounding them.
The Puzzle Wood by Rosie Andrews
Released → 9th May
I don't know why but as soon as a book is described as a gothic mystery, I just have to have it. I've got so many historical books about governesses on my TBR but I couldn't resist another one.
My Darling Dreadful Thing by Johanna Van Veen
Released → 14th May
I haven't been reading much horror lately but this sounds uber spooky what with the crumbling estate, spirit companions and murder! If I don't get round to it before then, this would be perfect for Halloween!
I'm Afraid You've Got Dragons by Peter S. Beagle
Released → 14th May
This book was originally supposed to be published in 2007 but got shelved indefinitely but it's finally being released this year! Another fun fantasy, maybe 2024 will be the year I read a lot of high fantasy instead of my usual low? Who knows?
