The Princesses of Iowa by M. Molly Backes

I'm not a big fan of reading about the pretty, rich girl realising that money and popularity isn't all it's cracked up to be, just not a plot I'm interested in.

So it surprises them both when they start to fall for each other. Kelsey’s happy for the first time in months, and Isaac’s never felt this way about anyone before. But nothing’s ever completely perfect. Everyone has secrets, and Isaac and Kelsey are no exceptions. These two may have fallen hard, but there’s one thing that can ruin it all: the truth.
If reviews are anything to go by - this author's books tend to stick to the same formula and filled with stereotypical characters.

The One that I Want by Jennifer Echols
Gemma can’t believe her luck when the star football player starts flirting with her. Max is totally swoon-worthy, and even gets her quirky sense of humor. So when he asks out her so-called best friend Addison, Gemma’s heartbroken.
Then Addison pressures Gemma to join the date with one of Max’s friends. But the more time they all spend together, the harder Gemma falls for Max. She can’t help thinking that Max likes her back—it’s just too bad he’s already dating Addison. How can Gemma get the guy she wants without going after her best friend’s boyfriend?
The side characters sound ridiculously mean (so you're obviously rooting for the main character to get the guy) but this sounds like a cheating storyline waiting to happen.

Unbreak My Heart by Melissa Walker
Sophomore year broke Clementine Williams’ heart. She fell for her best friend’s boyfriend and long story short: he’s excused, but Clem is vilified and she heads into summer with zero social life.
Enter her parents’ plan to spend the summer on their sailboat. Normally the idea of being stuck on a tiny boat with her parents and little sister would make Clem break out in hives, but floating away sounds pretty good right now.
Then she meets James at one of their first stops along the river. He and his dad are sailing for the summer and he’s just the distraction Clem needs. Can he break down Clem’s walls and heal her broken heart?
One sec, I'm just singing the Toni Braxton song in my head... I like the sound of the alternating chapters of the past and present plus the fact that it's on a boat during summer. I'm willing to give this one a chance.

Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe by Shelley Coriell
Big-hearted Chloe Camden is the queen of her universe until her best friend shreds her reputation and her school counselor axes her junior independent study project. Chloe is forced to take on a meaningful project in order to pass, and so she joins her school’s struggling radio station, where the other students don’t find her too queenly. Ostracized by her former BFs and struggling with her beloved Grams’s mental deterioration, lonely Chloe ends up hosting a call-in show that gets the station much-needed publicity and, in the end, trouble. She also befriends radio techie and loner Duncan Moore, a quiet soul with a romantic heart. On and off the air, Chloe faces her loneliness and helps others find the fun and joy in everyday life.
Sounds fluffy and cute but I like the sound of a struggling radio station/call in show plot point.

The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland
Elizabeth Margaret--better known as Em--has always known what her life would contain: an internship at her father's firm, a degree from Harvard, and a career as a lawyer. The only problem is, it's not what she wants. So when she gets the opportunity to get away and spend a month with the aunt she never knew, she jumps at the chance. While there, Em learns that her family has some pretty significant secrets. And then there's Cade, the laid-back local surfer boy who seems to be everything Em isn't. Naturally, she can't resist him, and as their romance blossoms, Em feels that for the first time ever, she is really living life on her own terms.
If I didn't own it, I'd probably be removing it. I have no idea if I'll get round to reading this but it's still in my kindle library.

My Life in Black & White by Natasha Friend
Lexi has always been stunning. Her butter-colored hair and perfect features have helped her attract friends, a boyfriend, and the attention of a modeling scout. But everything changes the night Lexi's face goes through a windshield. Now she's not sure what's worse: the scars she'll have to live with forever, or what she saw going on between her best friend and her boyfriend right before the accident. With the help of her trombone-playing, defiantly uncool older sister and a guy at school recovering from his own recent trauma, Lexi learns she's much more than just a pretty face.
Whilst this has decent reviews, I'm just feeling meh about the synopsis.

Waiting by Carol Lynch Williams
Growing up in Africa and Latin America as the children of missionaries, London and Zach were as close as could be. And then Zach dies, and the family is gutted. London’s father is distant. Her mother won’t speak. The days are filled with what-ifs and whispers: Did Zach take his own life? Was it London’s fault?
Alone and adrift, London finds herself torn between her brother’s best friend and the handsome new boy in town as she struggles to find herself—and ultimately redemption.
I feel bad for removing all of these contemporaries without a specific reason but I just know that with my reading tastes right now that I won't read these types of book anytime soon.

When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle

Because Shakespeare may have gotten the story wrong, but we all still know how it ends….
I have one of Rebecca Serle's newer adult releases on my kindle which I'm much more interested in. I really like retellings but a few reviews have mentioned slut shaming and sexism that happens for no reason which has turned me off this one.

One Moment by Kristina McBride
This was supposed to be the best summer of Maggie’s life. Now it’s the one she’d do anything to forget.
Maggie remembers hanging out at the gorge with her closest friends after a blowout party. She remembers climbing the trail with her perfect boyfriend, Joey. She remembers that last kiss, soft, lingering, and meant to reassure her. So why can’t she remember what happened in the moment before they were supposed to dive? Why was she left cowering at the top of the cliff, while Joey floated in the water below–dead?
As Maggie’s memories return in snatches, nothing seems to make sense. Why was Joey acting so strangely at the party? Where did he go after taking her home? And if Joey was keeping these secrets, what else was he hiding?
I thought this was gonna be another romantic contemporary but I like the sound of a suicide pact gone wrong.
