Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature that highlights ten books that all relate to a certain topic and is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This Weeks Topic Is...
The Final Act of Juliette Willoughby by Ellery Lloyd
I love historical fiction and especially historical fiction with alternating timelines. This sounds right up my alley with a runaway heiress, mysterious deaths and family curses. Plus, I like the sound of multiple settings with Paris, Cambridge and Dubai all being mentioned in the synopsis.
The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown
Portal fantasies are one of my favourite subgenres therefore when this got announced it went straight in my basket. As with a lot of books I own, I'm worried my expectations are going to be high and I won't enjoy it as much as I'm expecting to.
The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden
The Bear and the Nightingale was one of my favourite books of 2021 (I still need to continue the series, don't judge me 🙈) so I automatically needed this World War I set novel. I've seen some mixed reviews for this but the majority seem to be positive so I have high hopes for it.
The Love of My Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood
It's not often I reach for romance, especially in physical format but mix it with light fantasy/magical realism and I'm all over it. This one has such a fun premise and I know it will be perfect for when I wanted something lighter to break up the darker books I mostly read.
The Phoenix Keeper by S.A. Maclean
I often consider cancelling my Owlcrate subscription as sometimes I feel like I'm outgrowing YA especially fantasy but this one sounded so fun I couldn't resist. I'm not a fan of paranormal fantasy but give me all the magical creature books please! This one has dragons, unicorns, kelpies and kraken and it's set in a magical zoo! I didn't need to know much more then that when I renewed it that month.
Murder Road by Simone St. James
I've been trying to read more horror lately and Simone St. James is an author I've had my eye on for a while so when this book was announced as an Evernight box pick, I knew I needed it! I love the sound of this one, it feels very classic horror film plus the cover is so cool, I think the comic book style illustration really works!
A Fragile Enchantment by Allison Saft
Like I said above, I've been really picky with which months I choose to renew my Owlcrate subscription but this one was pretty intriguing. I like that it's set in a fantastical regency era and that it's about a magical dressmaker. Romantasy isn't usually my thing but this one sounds a bit lighter than all the popular ones on TikTok!
Another pre-order and light fantasy book. Time-travel is another trope that I can't resist in books, it's giving The Midnight Library mixed with The Cassandra Complex. The Goodreads rating is lower that i expected but hopefully I'll enjoy this one.
The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson
I will happily read anything that Holly Jackson writes and after completing the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series last month, her newest release has gone right to the top of my TBR.
The Husbands by Holly Gramazio
Oh, look - more light fantasy! I definitely like a quirkier story and especially female protagonists getting to try out multiple different lives. I think this one is going be to super fun when I eventually get round to reading it!
The Warm Hands of Ghosts has been on a lot of lists this week! I still need to read it, too.
