This Weeks Topic Is...
Books I Was SO EXCITED to Get, but Still Haven't Read! Slightly ashamed that this is such a regular occurrence and is pretty much true for most of the books on my shelves.
Little Thieves by Margaret Owen
A "The Goose Girl" retelling about a thief who swaps places with a princess with gods and curses. Probably most ashamed for this one as I pre-ordered it (something I hardly ever do) and still haven't read it.
Been sitting on my shelf since: October 2021
True Crime Story by Joseph Knox
A novel that's written in the style of a true crime documentary was always going to pique my interest and I grabbed this soon after it was published. I think I'm worried my expectations are too high!
Been sitting on my shelf since: August 2021
The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary
I read romantic contemporaries intermittently but this one does sound so cute (as does O'Leary's other books of which I also own The Switch) and the author is a big name in the genre.
Been sitting on my shelf since: March 2020
This cover was too pretty to resist and a fantasy story with tarot cards as a major element sounded right up my street.
Been sitting on my shelf since: September 2021
Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron
Another fairy tale retelling, they're a bit of a weakness for me. Breaking the construct of the fairytale and weaving in a LGBTQ+ romance = added to basket.
Been sitting on my shelf since: August 2020
Lock Every Door by Riley Sager
I didn't love Final Girls but I've definitely been interested in the books that have been published since and this one and Home Before Dark are at the top of my list. I think I'm neglecting this one because it's on my kindle and therefore I'm less likely to see when browsing for something to read.
Been sitting on my shelf since: Early 2020?
Illuminae by Jay Kistroff & Amie Kaufman
I've been adding this book to monthly and readathon TBR's for a few years now and I just keep passing it over. I really really think I'm going to love this series. I mean, I better had seeing as I own all three books! I've just hyped this up so much in my head that I don't want it to disappoint me.
Been sitting on my shelf since: 2017
I was so thrilled to get this book in an Owlcrate box a while ago and it's been so hyped since, so many people love this duology and it does sound fantastic.
Been sitting on my shelf since: December 2020
The Secret History by Donna Tartt
As someone who loves dark academia and fiction set in education, it's a crime that I haven't read this yet. It's incredible that it's still so talked about despite being published in the 90's and a whole new generation is hyping it up.
Been sitting on my shelf since: 2016-ish
The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin
I just think this book sounds amazing and has such an original premise. I mean, cities having souls embodied by people is a great idea. Another one where my anticipation is putting me off picking it up though!
Been sitting on my shelf since: Mid 2020
I haven’t read The City We Became yet either.

I really loved The Flatshare! I have The Secret History and These Violent Delights on my TBR, too--I hope we both get to them and enjoy them soon! :)

The only one I've read on here is LOCK EVERY DOOR. I enjoyed it, just as I've enjoyed all of Sager's books. Funny enough, the only one I haven't read of his is FINAL GIRLS. I've heard mixed reviews, so I'm kind of hesitating to pick it up even though I actually have an old ARC of it on my shelves.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy all these when you get to them!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
